His innovative spirit and passion made him a pioneer and storyteller in the entertainment technology industry, where he has been shaping and redefining sports and entertainment formats with courage and creativity for almost four decades. In addition to his CEO duties, Thomas Riedel personally participates in numerous projects around the world as an investor, advisor and driver of digital transformation – constantly proving that brands only become truly authentic and tangible with a good dash of personality.

2020s
Developer of formats and further investments
Thomas co-founds circle-o to develop a groundbreaking 360-degree concept for the coverage of the 36th America’s Cup. Co-owner of Germany’s largest web TV platform for sports Sportdeutschland.TV. Thomas drives forward the digitization of Wuppertal and strengthens the business location by acquiring tal.de. He further invests in intelligent sports technology (such as sensors). He founds the first German SailGP team and invests in the F1 on water.
2010s
Enabler of first-ever projects, investor and mentor
Entrepreneur of the Year Award. 30th anniversary of RIEDEL Communications. Riedel’s game changing Bolero sets new standards in the industry. Thomas drives digitalization in sports as an investor and mentor for start-ups.
And the Emmy go to… Riedel for the Red Bull Stratos project, breaking several World Records.
2000s

1990s
A thrown away fax and the first Riedel product
From a garage company to a global player. Thomas’ early interest in theatres soon expands to broadcast and anywhere else in the world of entertainment. Development of the first Riedel product RiFace (an interface between radio and intercom), (introduced in 1992 and) deployed at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Entry in the F1 world with McLaren, first FIFA World Cup delivery and first big customer project ORF in Vienna
1980s
Full Throttle
A true one man show in the backyard of his parents’ house. Entertainment is Thomas’ world. He’s entertainer at heart and a self-made man. Performances as a magician in retirement homes and kindergartens, as DJ and host of events. Business creator starting with small radio rental, (a true one man show in the backyard of his parents’ house), that leads to founding Riedel Communications in 1987
